The jewel of the villages of Strymonikos gulf are the sandy well-organized beaches spread out around the gulf adding their charm on the site. A common characteristic of these beaches is the fact that each year they are awarded by European Union with Blue Flag award, a symbol of crystal clear sea. Each one of the beaches has specific features that make it unique.
Beaches in Nea Vrasna
The first beach that the Sea Pearl visitors will visit is the organized beach of the village Nea Vrasna. With length of 4km, it is characterized by deep water, only a step from the beach, and an outstanding view of the villages Stavros and Ano Stavros. At the back of the beach you can find the village’s sidewalk, a place where many cultural events during the summer are taking place and an ideal place to walk. Make sure to be present here during the August’s full moon cause the spectacle that offers the surfacing of moon from the sea will charm you.
Following the coastline of Strymonikos gulf, you’ll meet the Paralia Vrasna, with length of 3km, which is called by locals Paragakia. The area of Paralia Vrasna is a strictly summer resort as a total of 6.000 country houses are found there, as well as a lot of tourist accommodation. If you are a surf fun this beach is suitable for you cause the morphology of the ground creates big waves that offers the desirable excitement. Complete lifeguard protection assures the beach and makes it safe for swimming.
Beaches in Asprovalta
The organized beach of Asprovalta, spreads in a total length of 7km, at the center of Strymonikos gulf. Crystal clear sea, complete services and the brand-new beautiful sidewalk of the village are few of the reasons to choose this beach. During each summer here is carried out the Greek beach volleyball championships for young men and women. Don’t forget to visit the small hill at the middle of the beach, where on a bright green place you’ll relax enjoying the view.
Beaches in and around Stavros
On the village of Stavros you will meet three well organized beaches. First of them is called Milies and is located right after the village, on the way to Olympiada. It’s a 2km long beach on the foot of mountain Cholomontas, well organized and it is characterized by its gold sand and big rocks on its edges forming a wild charm. The extremely flat sea and the presence of lifeguards during the summer make the beach of Milies really safe for families with children. The second one, called Platania, is located on the end of the village and has a special reason to be chosen by visitors. More than a hundred age-old plane trees offer for many centuries their dew to visitors. To this unique site you should add all the sporting facilities (basketball and beach volleyball fields), kids playgrounds and cafeterias. In a harmonious coexistence and with no offense to plane trees and, these facilities are transforming this beach to an ideal area of amusement and dew. The third organized beach of Stavros, called Rihios, is located at the beginning of the village. With length of 1km this beach is characterized by extremely smooth sand and an outstanding view of the village of Ano Stavros. Its name comes from river Rihios that on this point of Strymonikos gulf is flowing.
Beaches in and around Olympiada
Starting from the area of village Olympiada, on the way to village Ierissos, you’ll discover the so-called First beach and Vina beach. Hidden inside of small natural harbors, these beaches are a point of reference for the youth of the area. An advantage of the two beaches should be considered the refreshment places from where you can supply the necessaries. One thing is sure. The magic of First and Vina beach will carry you away.
Inside the village Olympiada, the visitor will meet the most graphical beach of Strymonikos gulf. The old berth in the middle of the beach, the anchorage of small fishing boats on the side and the stone sidewalk lengthways of the sandy beach compose an image that rises memories of a different old Greece. On top of all this stands the excellent view to the uninhabited island of Kapros. The beach is extremely peaceful and that’s why it’s preferred more by families.
All these organized beaches, are full of all kinds of shops (cafeterias, taverns, stores) that are waiting to offer a unique combination of services to the visitors.
